You'll remember these days

I know I am too young to write or talk about life, I mean, some of you reading this might be twice my age or perhaps even more. But, as the author of this blog, the small world I share with about a handful of my friends, my family, and some of the occasional drifters who find themselves ‘misdirected’ from other sites to here, I feel obliged to share my views with you. Let me ask you a question, or rather, let me make a request to you today. Close your eyes for a moment before you read further than this sentence, and I want you to remember two specific moments in your day, or maybe in your week (I know that those moments could not have been farther apart than that): numero Uno, the moment when you loathed your current situation in life and wished that you could move ahead of it as soon as possible; number two, the moment you remembered something from the past, something which brought a smile to your lips. Done that? Now you must be thinking, ’how are the two connected?’ My answer to ...

The Butterfly Effect

So, here we are once again….on my blog. This one is a product of the ‘too much’ thinking I indulge in, more than once a while. I know, you must be wondering ,”Is the title ‘Few Words’ sarcastic of the blog itself, coz this guy blabbers a lot more than a few words!” Hahaha…. No, actually it is titled quite aptly, because for those who really like the blog, thousands of words will just count as a few!  Moving on, as you see the title, this entry is about the ‘Butterfly Effect ‘. For those of you who don’t know and don’t care to Google it, I’ll define it right here. It is a scientific sub-theory of the chaos theory. “Wow, this guy loves going tangent”. No I don’t and this is precisely why I am writing this entry. You see, even though it is a scientific theory, what I want to discuss here is the daily occurrences which we see in the world around us. The most common paradigm associated with this theory is “A butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil can set off a tornado in Texas.” Absur...

Zindagi

Still in the nineties!

So…..it’s been three years of living in Goa, and surprisingly enough, today was the first day in those 365x3 (plus or minus some days) days that I took it upon myself to go out and have fun my way, alone! That’s right, I left my friends in deep slumber in their hostel room beds this Sunday morning and ventured off to Panjim to enjoy the day my way (can’t get rid of the rhyming sense, what to do?) After all, I thought, if a baby could have its day out why not Devanshu ? (I for some of you, it might have been suitable to replace Devanshu with my other name, but this is a blog, respect… ;) ) So I got into the bus onward to Vasco da Gama, from where I was to take another bus to Panjim. While traveling, the idea of this particular blog entry dawned upon me. You see, Goa is a strange state. When I came here three years back, it seemed stranger to me. I must tell you, being from Rajasthan, I belonged to the north Indian culture (Ya, I know Rajasthan’s in the west, but that’s how we classif...

Memoirs of My December: Part III - The Day Mom had the 'Last Laugh'

Okay…. So this is the third and final part of Memoirs of my December (awww…. Don’t be sad… there will always be more on ‘Few Words’).  This is the part which kind of summarizes my entire winter vacation. So here it goes…. 30 th December 2010 –3 rd January 2011 : After Sumi’s treat… he got a bit busy and I too wanted to spend some more time with my family since only a few days were remaining before I left for Delhi again, from where I had to go catch my flight back to Goa. So most of this period was spent at home, having fun with my little bro, chatting with Dadi, and of course, watching Prison Break with mom and dad. However the days were running out fast, and the tale of Michael Scolefield was quite far from reaching its climax, so mom, dad and me were in a race against time (sounds vaguely familiar to a Hindi movie title, I know! ) Now it so happened when the three of us were in the same room, and that room happened to be mom and dad’s room, a fourth member used to join us – ...

Memoirs of my December : Part II : Around Jaipur in 80 minutes....

26th-28th Dec 2010 : Me and Mom left for Jaipur on 26th. The bus journey wasn't as pleasing as it usually used to be because of the numerous flyovers under construction on the highway. We still made it in around 6 hours. I always get overjoyed when I’m back in Jaipur and that time was no different. Chachu n Chachi had to leave for Kolkata in the evening, so I spent some time catching up with them in the afternoon. In the evening I had my coffee with Dadi in her room telling her about what all transpired with me in that semester. After Chachu and Chachi left, and my younger cousin got back  to his studies, I got engrossed with my broadband internet... the only time I get every 5 months with a net that's speedy enough to stream YouTube videos in real time. This time it was even better, because the gprs net I used in Delhi had made my net life worse than hell...! I know it sounds boring but you can't guess what it’s like until it happens to you... 29th Dec 2010 : The appropri...

Memoirs of my December : Part I : Delhi

This one's a non-poem post by me after a long, long time. But it had to be something special to make it to this blog, and so it is. This one's about my holidays in the last month. Here it goes... 8th Dec 2010: Everything was looking set. Exams were going to get over in two days time, and I was going to fly off to nani's place in Delhi after 5 long months at college. So i was evidently happy the evening when an sms from Spice Jet that wiped the smile clean off my face. It stated that my flight had been cancelled due to 'unforeseen circumstances' and that 'the inconvinence caused was deeply regretted' .... yeah right! After a series of calls between me and dad, it was decided that he would go and check out at the airport as to what SpiceJet was going to do about the whole situation since I had my last exam on 10th and had to prepare for it 9th Dec 2010: Dad visited the airport, SpiceJet informed him that they would be happy to adjust me in a f...
